Joe Flacco And Lamar Jackson Got Off On The Wrong Foot

BALTIMORE, MD – The NFL draft is all about the rookies, we all know that. What gets lost in the shuffle are the veterans who will, in theory, be replaced by the young crop. Every year there is one quarterback drafted that immediately seems to spell the end for his predecessor. This year is no different, as we focus our attention to the Baltimore Ravens, Joe Flacco, and Lamar Jackson. When Roger Goodell announced Jackson’s name as the final pick of the first round, Flacco threw his remote at his TV in frustration, missing it by about 5 yards to the right. He knew he had to do something to save his job.

He arrived to work on Monday to see Jackson already in the film room. Lamar stood up to introduce himself, extended his hand for a handshake, and was met by a loose fist bump. Flacco was embarrssed. Jackson smirked as he said, “Don’t worry, man. I won’t give you too much… flack about it.” Flacco didn’t appreciate the pun. As they watched film together, Jackson answered every question correctly on coverage sets, reads, hot routes, etc. as Flacco sat in silence. He was plotting his revenge. All of the sudden Flacco, an avid Adam Sandler fan, hatched his plan. “Hey Lamar, if you’re not doing anything later, why don’t you join me and some of the guys at 9 o’clock on the 9th green at Forest Hills Golf course.” Flacco said. “What happens there?” Jackson asked, sticking to Flacco’s imagined script perfectly. “Just a little… secret of the pros.” said Flacco, and Jackson accepted. As Lamar lightheartedly went to leave the room, Flacco stopped him, “Hey, dress nice, huh?”

Lamar arrived at 8:15pm. He didn’t want to be late for his first players only meeting. He waited 44 minutes before feeling uneasy. As the clock struck 9, he looked at his iPhone to make sure he got the time right. Just then, he was spalshed with water from the greens sprinkler system. He had no idea how Flacco had devised such a genius plan.
