If you’ve been watching HBO’s Hard Knocks so far you know that outside everyone’s clear disdain for Head Coach, Hue Jackson, the focal point of the series is 1st overall pick, Baker Mayfield. Now before I get going, let me be clear,
I LOVE Baker Mayfield. From his first whip (this was listed as “dougey” until I googled what dance it was.)
To his trash talk
To his throwing
to his running
I love him. So Baker, please keep me off your list.
That said, I have been legitimately concerned with some of the stuff I’ve seen. Like this shot right here.
I was watching this thinking “did he invite his entourage to the hidden gem of Ohio, Berea?” I mean look at this guy.
He has Barry Bond’s old earring hanging off his neck. That can’t be good. We find out later it’s his agent, so as far as his entourage goes, it’s Ari Gold. So I nailed that one.
But this guy has the headline “Mayfield fires agent after embezzling 10 million dollars” written all over him. Other than that, how he carries himself is… something to me. I mean, I guess it might not be that surprising. Everyone’s heard the “Hi Mr. Kraft, I’m the best decision you ever made” story from Brady. Maybe this attitude is a good thing. But that story is only good because it became a prophesy. It’s legend at this point.
Bottom line is this, 10 years from now this season of Hard Knocks will be viewed as writing on the wall, no matter what happens. I just hope Baker can look back at it and be happy, because, again, I really want him to do well.
PS: If Hue Jackson gets murdered, and it’s a “Clue” type situation, it’ll be John Dorsey in the bathroom using a Cleveland Browns crew neck to strangle him as the weapon.
PPS: Clue Jackso… nevermind
