Discussing the possibility the University of Alabama football team defeating an NFL team is one of the all time debates. It’s up there with veganism vs. meat eating, the moon landing, and, of course, the role of government supporting innovation in the field of biotechnology. But we all know how that last one turned out.
With ‘Bama vs. the NFL, cooler heads will prevail, more often than not, and everyone will eventually come to the agreement of, “No, a team of college athletes cannot beat a team of 53 fully grown men who’s main focus in life is to play football.”
But a question no one has posed is what if the NFL team in question is filled with all Alabama players?
For those unaware, in the last two years the Washington Redskins have been acquiring Alabama alums at every turn. Be it through drafting Jonathan Allen and Da’Ron Payne (great name) in consecutive years, trading for Ha-Ha Clinton Dix (greater name), claiming Reuben Foster off waivers after 3 domestic abuse allegations (yikes), and now signing former New York Giant, Landon Collins.
Before I go on, allow me to take this moment to congratulate Collins on making that Adam Archuleta money. Don’t let history repeat itself. But I digress.
But seriously, this has to play a factor, right? I mean when you break it down, every level of the defense is effected. Both safeties, the whole interior line, and the middle linebacker (aka the quarterback of the defense) are all exposed.
Something to consider is the fact that these men have developed a lot since their college days and to think their old college team/schemes can is ridiculous. Sure, you can think that, but that would be irresponsible of you. That would indicate you think Alabama players are actual human beings.
See, it’s long been known that Alabama has been creating their players inside a lab underneath Bryant-Denny Stadium. Their football knowledge is all code. You see a football play, they see numbers like their in the Matrix.
That code doesn’t change. They are always interconnected. To think Alabama wouldn’t be able to immediately dissect that shows how little you know about the correlation between Alabama and the NFL.
At the end of the day, yes, this is a hypothetical. We will never know who would really win.
But I do know this. If the Redskins keep this up for another year, Jalen Hurts is going to become a hell of a lot more draftable. If they keep it up for 3 years… let’s just hope the Giants will still be this bad to get Trevor Lawrence.
