So Everyone’s Just Okay With Dak Prescott Getting Top 5 QB Money?

In this article you can find the following quote:

“Previously, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said Dallas wouldn’t be “market-setters.” Each player’s salary falling in the “top five,” as Slater reported, would be in line with the Cowboys stance.”

To that I say, “…what?”

We’re talking about Dak(tice). Not a game, not a game, not a game. We’re talking about Dak(tice.)

Zeke Elliot? Totally fair. Guy is a Top 3 runningback in the NFL, without question. You could even argue he’s the best. ‘Nuff said.

Amari Cooper? Deserved. Contrary to some questionable performances in Oakland, the guy deserves a pay day. Is he a top 5 receiver? Eh, maybe. But that doesn’t matter considering that evey big wide receiver contract is “the biggest deal for a wide receiver ever.”

Happened last year with Odell Beckham.Screen Shot 2019-08-08 at 11.18.51 AM.png

And just last week with New Orleans’ Michael Thomas.

That’s just the market. What are ya gonna do?

But Dak Prescott?

Get the fuck outta here.

I guess it’s just surprising to hear because Jerry Jones never says stupid shit. Ever.

Class act, all around. So, as I said, it’s surprising.

Listen, I get that Dak has made Pro Bowls. But let’s stop pretending that matters. The real stars are on their way to the Super Bowl and can’t play. Other vets aren’t going to bother going to fucking ORLANDO, Florida for a fake game. So it falls in his lap.

Making the playoffs is impressive. But so is having the best O-Line and running back in the league. Also, considering a quarter of the season is spent playing the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, how proud can you really be?

Then there’s just reality. He’s a bruiser of a mobile quarterback. The window for success with that skillset is so small. Just ask Cam Newton.

But the thing is, he isn’t Cam Newton, like, at all. Which, actually, might not be a bad thing…

Regardless, I think you get the point I’m trying to make.

At the end of the day, he’s got numbers, accolades, playoff appearances, etc. So I kind of get it. But are you really going to try to say he even sniffs Top 5 QB status in the NFL?

If you do, you can kick rocks.
