Fact: Lamar Jackson is the most electrfying player this league has seen in a very long time.
Fact: He is deservedly the MVP frontrunner and is the reason that the Baltimore Ravens are the hottest team in the NFL right now.
Fact: None of it matters. At all.
Listen, I’m not one who praises the Patriots. I psychoanalyze their fans, sure. I’ll mock their fans a little bit, sue me. But overall, I think I view this whole cesspool environment objectively and honestly. I even have the Patriot’s back when some fans don’t. So I think I have a right to comment on this whole “Ravens are the best team in the AFC” thing.
But, then again, I’m biased. I always think I’m right. My therapist calls it narcissism, but I know they’re just jealous of how smart I am.
The point is that it does not matter one bit how well the Ravens are doing. No matter how much the Patriots may be “stuggling.” Because the reality is you don’t beat the Patriots twice. While the Ravens took a great shot at Bill and the boys a few weeks back, I do not know why they’re so excited. Especially when the reason why is so close to home.
Being from Baltimore, they should know that.
I promise you Belicheck watched that game last night and rewound his TiVo (yes, Bill 100% still has TiVo) 50 times over on every Lamar Jackson run and completion. Getting a closer look at how each play developed each time.
I’ll ask you this. Do you remember 2017?
Then what happened in the playoffs?
How about 2014?
And then?
I know what you’re thinking. “Shouldn’t you have more examples than two games against the Chiefs over the last five years?”
To that I say, “You’re right. But I started this idea before really vetting it and now I’m kinda stuck. Blogging is hard and if you want well thought out stories, go read a Spotlight or article. Or, better yet, watch the movie. No one actually reads anymore. It’s a genuine waste of time.”
So stop being the Chinese Food Drive-Thru Worker to my Ashton Kutcher.
Thanks.
It’s just funny how people forget history. Not even recent history. Just history overall.
Like, there is absolutely no reason to think that the Patriots aren’t at least going to the Super Bowl this year, and every year that Tom Brady puts on their uniform. If you disagree, then I safely assumed you “knew” the Browns were going to the playoffs this year.
I guess that’s what it really comes down too. Not getting wrapped up in a recency bias. I do not care what the Browns do to improve their team. Until they prove to me that they can make the playoffs, I will never think they can make the playoffs. At the same time, I do not care what other teams do to improve themselves. Until the Patriots prove to me they can’t go to the Super Bowl, I will always pick them to go to the Super Bowl.
So sorry, Baltimore. Enjoy this season while you can because it’s going to come to a crashing halt come early 2020.
